Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is required when the pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth) becomes infected or inflamed, often due to deep decay, trauma or cracks in the tooth.
Treatment involves carefully removing the infection, cleaning and disinfecting the canal system, and sealing the tooth to prevent reinfection. In many cases, a crown is placed afterwards to protect and strengthen the tooth.

Types of Root Canal Treatment

Root canal care is tailored to the condition of the tooth and the extent of infection.

root canal

Single-Canal Root Treatment

Used for teeth with a simpler internal structure, such as front teeth. Treatment focuses on removing infection and sealing the canal to restore comfort and function.

re-root canal

Re-Root Canal Treatment

If a previously treated tooth becomes reinfected, retreatment may be required. This involves removing old filling material and addressing the cause of reinfection.

Root Canal Treatment with Crown Restoration

Following root canal therapy, a crown is often recommended to restore strength, protect the tooth and prevent fracture.

Why Are Root Canal Treatments Important?

Without treatment, an infected tooth can lead to increasing pain, abscess formation and spread of infection.

Root canal treatment helps to:

  • Relieve pain and sensitivity
  • Eliminate infection
  • Preserve the natural tooth
  • Prevent the need for extraction
Saving the natural tooth is often the healthiest long-term solution for your bite and oral health.
